A Heroku alternative on Hetzner
Moving from Heroku to Hetzner means swapping a fully managed platform for a server you own. A deploy layer can keep the push-to-deploy workflow.
- Containerise the app (a Dockerfile).
- Move config vars to environment variables.
- Move the database to a managed service or a separate server, with backups.
- Point DNS at the new server once tested.
How CloudHostAI works
CloudHostAI deploys Git repositories to a server in your own Hetzner account. You connect a Hetzner API token. It provisions the server (default location Falkenstein, Germany, which you can change) and runs your app in Docker behind Caddy. Caddy issues a Let’s Encrypt certificate when you point a custom domain at the server. The platform fee is Free, Indie $19, Startup $39 or Team $99 per month. Hetzner bills the server to you separately (current plans, checked 2026-10-27).
